Visiting the Library

Kenneth Spencer Research Library is located at 1450 Poplar Lane on the University of Kansas main campus in Lawrence. The library is open to everyone who registers and shows photo identification.

Pedestrians can reach the library by passing through the rotunda of Strong Hall on Jayhawk Boulevard and crossing the terrace which connects Strong Hall with Spencer or by entering the ground floor door of Spencer from the covered parking area off Poplar Lane.

Facilities for the Disabled

The ground floor door (in the covered parking area off Poplar Lane) of the Spencer Research Library is approached by sidewalks with curb cuts and has powered doors activated by clearly marked buttons. These are particularly useful for visitors using wheel chairs or carrying awkward packages.

All public areas of the library are wheel chair accessible and have braille signage.

Wheel chair accessible restrooms are located on the ground floor.

All floors of the library are served by an elevator located just inside the entrance doors.
