| What the Library Collects |
The support which the
University of Kansas devotes to the Spencer Library long has been supplemented
by gifts and grants. Indeed, the library building itself and many of its
furnishings were given to the University by Helen
Foresman Spencer in memory of her husband, Kenneth
Aldred Spencer. Most of the library's holdings have been received as gifts or acquired with funds from donors. Expanding and preserving the collections, improving access to them and promoting new services for readers depends very much on the availability of new gifts and income from endowments established for the Spencer Library and its departments at the Kansas University Endowment Association. The Library welcomes gifts of library and archival material and financial support to enhance the value of the collections for research, teaching and service to the students and faculty of the University of Kansas and to society. The Interim Head of the Spencer Research Library and other members of the staff welcome inquiries from individuals or organizations interested in supporting the Spencer Library by donating to its holdings or helping to advance the Library's work with gifts of funds. |
