Reproducing Materials

Reproductions of items from the Kenneth Spencer Research Library may be made only for use in the research, teaching or private study of the recipient of the reproduction. They may not be made for or donated to other repositories by the recipient. They may not be further reproduced without permission.

The recipient agrees to give proper acknowledgment to the Kenneth Spencer Research Library, and further agrees to secure permission in advance from the Library to publish or broadcast any item, in whole or in part, from its collections. This permission may be granted in so far and only in so far as the rights of the Kenneth Spencer Research Library are concerned. The Library claims only physical ownership of much of the material in its collections. Persons wishing to broadcast or publish such material must assume all responsibility for identifying and satisfying any claimants of literary property rights or copyrights.

The recipient agrees to indemnify and hold harmless The University of Kansas, its officers, employees and agents from and against all suits, claims, actions and expenses arising out of the use of reproductions provided by the Kenneth Spencer Research Library.

The information made available on this web site is being made available for use in research, teaching and private study. For these purposes, searchers may reproduce (print, make photocopies, or download) materials from this web site without prior permission (unless a specific message otherwise states) on the condition that attribution of the source is made in all copies (see below). Although the Kenneth Spencer Research Library does not require searchers to contact the Library in advance for these purposes, staff do appreciate hearing from teachers, students and researchers who are using these resources in interesting ways (send e-mail to the Spencer Librarian at swilliam@ku.edu).

For other uses of the content of this web site, i.e., for commercial products, publications, broadcast, mirroring and anything else that does not constitute "fair use," the Library requires that users contact us in advance for permission to reproduce.

For more information on "fair use" see the following website compiled by the Office of the Vice Provost for Information Services: Copyright/Fair Use.
