G. Baley Price worked as a civilian for the Army Air Force during World War II. Already engaged in war work teaching members of the Armed Forces at KU, Price was asked to accept a position as an operations analyst for the Air Force, and agreed, expecting to be sent to the South Pacific. Instead, he was sent to the Operational Research Section at Eighth Air Force Headquarters, located in High Wycombe, England.
