Two years later, he completed his master’s degree at the University of Kansas and was awarded membership in the Kansas Academy of Science. Between 1932 and 1938, he served in a variety of capacities at Western University in Quindaro, Kansas, including that of instructor, registrar and dean. After serving more than a decade at the school, Mr. Jones moved to Texas to join the faculty at Prairie View A&M University. In 1951, he became the principal of the University’s Training School, which provided instruction for elementary and high school students. He continued in that capacity until his retirement in 1971. He later served on the transition team for school integration in the area. In 1992, the area’s local school district honored his legacy of achievement by naming one of its institutions, The Herman T.
