University Archives
University Archives, established in 1969, is the repository for the records documenting the history of the University of Kansas. Unfortunately, many early records were lost, but some documents were identified and kept by various offices and eventually brought to the Archives for proper preservation and storage.
The following areas are included in the collections:

Athletics
The athletic tradition at KU is long, and is inevitably a part of the University's history. Our collection documents the legendary coaches and athletes, as well as lesser known individuals. See More...

Campus Buildings
Indexes and brief synopses have been prepared for each building on campus. Thousands of photographs trace the changes in the buildings' exteriors and interiors, as well as their surroundings. Blueprints are available for many structures, including some no longer in existence. Individuals must obtain written permission from the KU Privacy Office to see the blueprints for existing buildings. See More...

Chancellors
As the repository of the University's official documents, University Archives houses the papers and correspondence of the chancellors. Most of the important issues in the development of the University are represented in this collection. See More...

Faculty
While University Archives is the repository of the University's official documents, it also includes the papers and correspondence of many KU faculty members. The collection forms an important source documenting the scholarly work and other accomplishments of the men and women who have served KU through the years. Photographs of faculty members may also be available. See More...

Photographs
The University Archives holds over one million photographic items in many different formats, with prints, negatives, slides and glass plates among them. All of the photographs are arranged in a manner which allows quick access based on subject and time period. The photographs document the development of the campus and its buildings, student life, faculty, commencement, and athletic events. Student Life
The University Archives houses photographs, records, and scrapbook, among other items, related to Student Life and Organizations. Individuals can review the finding aid for Student Organizations Records to see the types of records available for the various organizations. All of the material is arranged in a manner which allows quick access based on the organization, subject, and time period. See More...
